Compare Registered PEOs for Connecticut Employers

Connecticut changed more employer rules in 2026 than most states change in five years. Sick leave now reaches companies with 11 employees, every job posting must show a pay range and benefits, and the unemployment wage base keeps climbing. Connecticut also registers PEOs through its Department of Labor, so you can confirm a provider is approved before you compare quotes.
AlignPEO works with businesses in Hartford, Stamford, New Haven, Bridgeport, and across the state to sort through those changes and the providers who handle them. We do not sell a PEO of our own. We line up options from our 15+ partners, explain where each one fits your company, and charge you nothing for the comparison.
Why Connecticut Businesses Use a PEO
Connecticut layers employee-funded paid leave, a fast-expanding sick leave law, mandatory pay ranges, and a growing unemployment tax base onto every payroll. A PEO keeps each one current.

Paid Sick Leave at 11 Employees
Connecticut's sick leave law covers employers with 11 or more employees in 2026 and every employer with at least one employee on January 1, 2027. A PEO tracks accruals and shows balances on each pay stub.

Pay Ranges in Every Posting
Since October 1, 2026, every Connecticut employer must list a wage range and a benefits summary in internal and external job postings. A PEO helps you set ranges you can defend.

CT Paid Leave Withholding
Employees fund CT Paid Leave through a 0.5% deduction on wages up to $184,500 in 2026. There is no employer share, but your payroll still has to withhold and remit it correctly.

A Rising Unemployment Wage Base
Connecticut taxed only the first $15,000 of wages through 2023. The base is $27,000 in 2026, so unemployment cost per employee has climbed quickly.
What Else Do PEO Services Cover?
At AlignPEO, we connect small to medium-sized businesses with PEO services that cover every aspect of human capital management.
Payroll and Tax Administration
Connecticut withholds a graduated state income tax with a top rate of 6.99%, and each employee picks a withholding code on Form CT-W4 that changes how much comes out of every check. Unemployment tax applies to the first $27,000 of each employee's wages in 2026, with new employers at 1.9%. The CT Paid Leave deduction adds one more line. Our PEO partners file every deposit and return on schedule.
Employee Benefits and Health Plans
CT Paid Leave replaces part of an employee's wages during family or medical leave, with a maximum weekly benefit of $1,016.40 in 2026. Employers with five or more qualifying employees must also offer a retirement plan or register for MyCTSavings, the state auto-IRA. A PEO 401(k) satisfies that rule, and PEO group plans add medical, dental, vision, and life coverage at large-group rates.
HR Compliance and Risk Management
Connecticut's minimum wage is $16.94 per hour in 2026 and adjusts every January based on a federal wage index. The paid sick leave law requires accrual of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 40 hours a year, with balances shown on pay stubs. Our PEO partners update rates, leave policies, handbooks, and postings as the rules shift.
Recruitment and Onboarding Support
Since October 1, 2026, Connecticut job postings, internal and external, must include a wage range and a general description of benefits. PEO partners help you build ranges you can stand behind, then run applicant tracking, background checks, I-9 forms, and onboarding.
Workers' Compensation and Safety Programs
Connecticut requires workers' comp from the first employee, whether that person works full-time or part-time. PEOs place coverage, run safety programs, manage claims, and support return-to-work plans, which matters for the state's manufacturers and defense suppliers.

Connecticut's Economy Runs on Several Engines
Hartford is the long-time home of the insurance industry. Stamford and the rest of Fairfield County hold finance firms and corporate headquarters that draw talent from New York. New Haven mixes Yale, hospitals, and a growing biotech cluster, while Groton and the I-95 corridor support submarine building and a deep network of aerospace and defense suppliers.
An investment firm in Greenwich and a machine shop supplying defense work near Groton have almost nothing in common when it comes to benefits, comp classes, or hiring.
We match the PEO to the company: your locations, your workforce mix, and what you need the provider to take off your plate.
